In November 2023, I joined the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign's College of Applied Health Sciences as their inaugural marketing coordinator. The College of AHS prides itself on offering programs that improve people's everyday lives across the lifespan. AHS houses the departments of Kinesiology; Speech and Hearing Science; and Recreation, Sport and Tourism along with two campuswide service units: Disability Resources and Educational Services and Chez Veterans Center.
As marketing coordinator, I have had the privilege of shaping and growing the role around the needs of the Marketing and Communications team and the college as a whole. We have developed a comprehensive marketing strategy across both online and on campus curricula in cooperation with the campus level Office of Strategic Marketing and Communications, and I serve as a conduit between stakeholders at all levels of the university.
As a small but mighty team, we have also adopted data-driven processes to streamline our efforts at college and campus levels, and I have played a role in training colleagues to use these new tools. I've been grateful to maintain skills in writing and editing by collaborating on the communications side of our operations as well.
With an eye always toward inclusion, AHS prides itself on being one of the most diverse and accommodating colleges on campus. We truly are working to build a better world.
